nba players seem to shoot the ball harder than what you see from everyday ppl.. and most of the time their shots seem to hit the back rim and down… like a bang shot, instead of the glass, off the back rim?
why does it seem like that? and their ball seem to be going very fast and vet still very accuate and won’t bounce back like normal ppl would.

I think it is because most nba players are taller, bigger and more athletic then everyday players that you see. So that results in a higher release of their shot, at or above the level of the basketball rim. Therefore, there tends to be less of an arc in their shot. Just think of it as throwing a wad of paper into a trash can. At a downwards angle, you can throw it hard and it will hit the back of the can and go in.
my conclusion: smaller players tend to shoot with more arc, while taller players tend to shoot more flat.

Because most of the NBA premier shooters have their shot down perfect. Their form, the way they hold the ball, and how hard they shoot it is all down pat. Their shots hit the backrim and go down because of the spin they put on their rotation when they shoot. Instead of rolling out they go down and in the hoop.
It doesn’t look like it in games sometimes, but most guys like Ray Allen, Peja, or Rip Hamilton NEVER miss in practice. They can make 10, 15 shots in a row easily.
They do it from hours upon hours of practice through training camp to all year, shooting hundreds of shots per practice.

Just practice, really. If you shoot enough, you begin to develop a sense of the hoop…you start shooting the ball just so it hits nothing but net. There are drills for that…they help with shooting and developing arc. I guess players have just developed that sense.

i don’t know if i agree with the “hard” part, but they definitely are more accurate than the average joe. Mainly i would say it’s their profession. i mean you and i would improve drastically if we played everyday. No add in that someone is paying you millions of dollars to play every-day.
We may go to the factory, office whatever for 8 hours a day- these guys are paid to play basketball- to be in basketball shape and so shooting is a pretty big part of that.
i remember when i was in summer league and playing 4-6 hours everyday after practice at the park – and man i just couldn’t miss (it was like being warm without warming up)… i can imagine that if you do that everyday– you’d be very accurate.
Just hours and hours of practicing and perfecting your craft.
